Finding a perfume can be a difficult task for everyone, for starters, we need to figure out the difference between eau de toilette and eau de parfum and perfum. Then we need to have a clear mind of what kinda scent we enjoy so we don’t regret our purchase later on.
Let’s start with knowing the difference between eau de toilette and eau de parfum and perfum.
Eau de toilette is basically 5 to 15 percent of oil in a alcohol (sometimes based water) formula. This concentration can last up to 2-3 hours, so it’s great if you want to “smell” nice for a date or a job interview.
Eau de parfum has less oil concentration than the perfume; it’s around 10-15%, which can be transferred into at least 4-5 hours longevity.
Perfume or parfum is the formula with the highest percentage of oil concentration, making it as well the most expensive. The “scented oils” can go from 20 to 40% in each bottle, which is why sometime people call it the pure perfume. Its fragrance can last up to 8 hours or even you might smell some of it the next day. Definitely a product that should only be used for special occasions.
Once we know what type of concentration works better for our routines, it is important to know which fragrance family we like the most or goes better with our own odor. So, here is a quick list of what you will find:
- Floral: This is a very sweet and soft fragrance that can come with jasmine, rose, carnation, gardenia scents, you name it.
- Fresh / Citrus: If you like fragrances that smell refreshing and clean go for scents that include tangerine, grapefruit, lemon or even peach tones to it.
- Spicy: This fragrance is also know as “Oriental” due to the range of scents that belong to its family; for example, vanilla, musks, and other spices.
- Woods: This group has scents like wood, patchouli, moss, sandalwood, and so on.
I recommend to have different fragrances form different families just to mix it up according to your mood and season; maybe go for a fresh fragrance for a casual day out with friends, and go floral for fall.
Now that you have the formula and fragrance it’s time to apply it and here is where you should spray on in order to make the scent last longer.
Hope you guy like this!
Until next time,
