Face Peel 101

We all do whatever we can in order to take care of our skin right? It can go for  numerous facial masks, to the latest creams for our face to treating our skin with some heavy treatments like Face Peel, but what exactly is this last one?  Let’s find out, shall we?

A face peel is a treatment that  vanishes a layer of your skin in order to remove dead cells and once the new cells are formed a new layer of skin much more softer is created; it’s  like an exfoliation with the difference that acids are use during the process.  It is important however that these acids are not harmful for your skin, you just need to pay attention to what kind of face peel you will get.

Is there more than just one face peel? Yes, there are. In fact, you can choose from a deep, medium or light peel.

  • The deep peel contains more chemicals (trichloroacetic acid)  that will treat your skin. This time of peels is ideal if you have sun damage or uneven skin texture to mention some examples. This treatment since it is the most sever one requires time and it will hurt a little bit or leave your skin somehow red; also you’ll need to protect your skin by avoiding sunlight as much as possible.
  • The medium peel also uses trichloroacetic acid (TCA) as part of the treatment and redness is still going to be present as a “side effect” however, the recovery time is about two weeks tops.
  • The light peel the chemical that are most likely to be use are substances that contain  glycolic acid or salicylic acid. What this face peel does is reduce the effects of aging and sun damage and it can give your skin a fresher and more glowy look.

Remember that this kind of treatments are not something that you should to every other in the week, try doing it once every 4 or 6 weeks depending on what your  doctor says.

Another thing to remember is that  since your skin is going to be super sensitive DO NOT EVER forget to apply your sunscreen or if you feel your skin drier due to the face peel,  use lotions that have green tea as an ingredient, this will not only moisturize your skin but it will give it a fresh feeling.
